THE ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD is given annually to two employees in the division of Administration and Finance who demonstrate exemplary service and make notable contributions to the growth, image, or efficient operations of the NKU community.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

  • Any regular or contract staff employee in the division of Administration and Finance is eligible to be nominated after two years of continuous service at Northern Kentucky University.
  • Nominees must meet the two-year minimum on July 1 of the nomination year and be a current employee in the division of Administration and Finance.
  • The employee must be an active employee in the division of Administration and Finance at the time of the award.

Who can nominate?

  • NKU faculty, staff, or students can nominate an A&F employee for this award.
  • Self-nominations or nominations by family members are not eligible.

Who decides who wins?

  • The selection committee includes staff members representing each major unit in the Administration and Finance division.
  • The committee reviews all nominations, confirms eligibility, and asks the nominee's supervisor to submit a letter of support.

Selection criteria: The selection committee considers the following factors during the evaluation process.

Outstanding Service Award
  • Job performance and quality of work: Include examples of how the employee’s performance consistently exceeds performance standards in all or most areas of responsibility; the employee’s initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity; and/or contributions to the work environment.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and collegiality: Include examples of how the employee demonstrates behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, responsible attitude towards students, co-workers, the profession, and the community; leadership; cooperation, courtesy, fairness to others; peer recognition; and/or teamwork.
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service: Include examples of the employee’s ability to exceed the expectations of colleagues or customers, where the standards and level of provided service exceed what could reasonably be defined as normal or expected; service above and beyond the call of duty.
  • Impact on department, unit, and/or university: Include examples of how the employee has positively affected a department, unit, or the university. This could also include efforts toward good public relations and/or community service with a professional organization that favorably reflects upon or benefits the University.

How do I nominate someone?

  • Nominations may be submitted online or by completing a paper-based nomination form.
  • Click on the Nomination Form button at the top of this page to access the paper-based nomination form and instructions. Each nomination must include the nomination form and a letter of nomination. If submitting a paper-based nomination form, completed nomination documents may be submitted by email to Avilesc@nku.edu or by campus mail to A&F Award, Administration and Finance, AC 836.
  • Click on the Online Nomination button at the top of this page to access the online nomination portal.
  • Nominations open on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 and close on Friday, May 27, 2022.

How are the award winners recognized?

  • The winners are announced at Administration and Finance’s annual employee recognition program.
  • Each Outstanding Service Award recipient will receive $750, an engraved award, and name will be inscribed on a plaque displayed in the Office of Human Resources.
