Perspectives in History is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal published by NKU students who are members of Alpha Beta Phi, a chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta international history honor society.
Perspectives in History began publication in the fall of 1985 during the first year of the Chapter at Northern Kentucky University. From 1985 through 1991 (Volumes 1-6), each volume had two issues per year. Beginning with Volume 7 (1991-1992), the journal has been published in one issue per year.
The purpose of the journal is to further the goal of Phi Alpha Theta in promoting the study of history. The editors are undergraduate students elected by the members of the Chapter during the annual election of officers. The journal is peer-reviewed by an editorial board. A majority of the papers published are the research of current or recently graduated undergraduate and post-graduate students.
The student editors and faculty advisor request submissions each year and select book reviews, essays, and research papers for publication based on scholarly and overall literary merit.
Editors for Perspectives in History will consider book or film reviews, essays, and research papers on historical topics from every continent and discipline. Submissions from undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty are welcome.
