The Master of Science degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology, offered by the Department of Psychological Science at NKU, is designed to develop competencies identified by the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP) while enabling students to tailor degree programs to their individual interests and career paths.
Although the curriculum is oriented toward applied research and practice, emphasizing content issues and conducting research in organizational settings, graduate students develop a strong foundation in theory, methods, and research. To enable full-time students to pursue internship, co-op, or part-time job opportunities and accommodate employed professionals, core graduate seminars meet on campus during weekday evenings with electives offered on campus or online.
Graduates are prepared to pursue advanced degrees in doctoral programs or applied career paths in human resources, training and development, talent management, compensation and benefits, human factors psychology, consumer psychology, marketing analysis, or organizational consulting, etc. An advisory board comprised of I/O psychology, human factors, marketing, occupational health, and human resources professionals in the greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky region ensures that the curriculum is relevant for the contemporary job market.
