Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology is the scientific study of the workplace. Utilizing the rigor and methods of psychological science, it applies principles, theory and research in psychology to investigate and address issues of critical relevance in work settings. Northern Kentucky University's 45-semester-hour program has been designed to provide a balanced representation of both industrial and organizational psychology content.
- Industrial psychology addresses human resources issues in recruitment, selection, training, testing and assessment, performance appraisal, promotion, transfer, and termination.
- Organizational psychology combines social psychology with organizational behavior to investigate issues in organizational development, leadership, job satisfaction, motivation, stress and well-being, conflict resolution, counterproductive behavior, work teams, fairness and justice, and cross-cultural issues.
