The Psychological Science Department offers both a major and a minor. The department also houses interdisciplinary minors in neuroscience and evolutionary studies and offers a Honors in Psychology (HIP) program for students meeting specified GPA and course requirements.
Psychological Science majors may pursue either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
For both degrees, students take the same core courses and the same number of electives. B.A. students take two extra foreign language courses (not used to fulfill general studies) or study abroad, and B.S. students take three extra math or lab courses.
The Honors in Psychology (HIP) Program helps psychological science majors develop invaluable skills that will help both in graduate school and in future careers. HIP students work with a psychological science faculty member to design, conduct, analyze, and report the results of an original empirical study.
