Language clubs

Le Club Français is open to all students in good standing who are interested in French and Francophone cultures. It sponsors social and cultural activities at various times during the academic year.  Contact faculty advisor Dr. Gisèle Loriot-Raymer.

Phi Sigma Iota

Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language honor society, established the Gamma Phi Chapter at NKU in 1997 to confer distinction on students for high achievement in the study of foreign languages, literatures and cultures.  Students are selected for membership on the basis of total semester hours of university work, number of hours of work completed in their chosen language, overall grade point average and grade point average in foreign language classes. Conversation hours

Conversation hours give World Languages and Literatures students an opportunity to sharpen their language skills on a regular basis. Locations for spring sessions will be announced in January. For the latest scheduling information, including starting dates each semester, please consult the Student Resources page.

Ramen soup
  • Les Causeries francophones is a conversation hour for students of French. Sessions are scheduled on designated Mondays or Wednesdays.
  • Kaffeestunde is a conversation hour for students of German. Weekly sessions are scheduled for 2-3 p.m. on Wednesdays.
