Browser Requirements
LockDown Browser is a client application that is installed to a local computer. Both the Windows edition and the Mac edition of the browser are based on Chromium, Google's open source framework. Students do NOT need Google Chrome installed; nor will this version affect a Chrome browser that's already installed.

StudyMate allows you to create Flash-based activities using easy-to-use templates that can be published directly to Canvas. StudyMate also integrates directly with the Respondus Test Bank Network, allowing instructors to quickly and easily create learning activities with items from publisher test banks.

Lockdown Browser

Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that provides a secure testing environment when using Canvas. Students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. Respondus Monitor is a companion product for LockDown Browser that enables institutions to protect the integrity of non-proctored, online exams. Students use their own computer and a webcam to record assessment sessions, all without leaving Canvas.

Note: If you are using the Respondus Lockdown Browser for a quiz you have copied from another course or after a course copy, you will need to access the Respondus Lockdown Browser dashboard at least once before a student attempts to take the quiz.  This step re-synchronizes the course with Respondus Lockdown Browser.  If this is not done, the lockdown browser will not be required.
