Plan Accordingly:

Each ceremony is expected to last 2-2.5 hours, so please share this information with your guests and plan accordingly. 

Please be courteous by staying through the end of the ceremony and supporting your fellow graduates as they cross the stage.

Make sure you know what time to arrive at Truist Arena:

Doors to Truist Arena will open one hour prior to each ceremony for both graduates and guests. 

What to wear:

Master’s and undergraduate caps and gowns may still be purchased in person at the NKU Bookstore through May 6. The only required pieces each degree candidate must have are a cap, gown and tassel. Master and doctoral candidates must also have an academic hood. Full details on regalia requirements can be found here.

There is no specific dress code on what to wear under your gown, but most graduates dress up a bit and we recommend comfortable shoes since you’ll be on your feet during lineup and the processional. Facial coverings are optional for all attendees indoors in Truist Arena.

Where to park:

Parking is free of charge in all surface lots and garages on campus on May 7.  Accessible parking is available on all levels of the Welcome Center Garage located across the street from the arena. Guests or graduates may also be dropped off in the circle drive at the main entrance of the arena. For a map or directions to NKU visit the Campus Maps and Directions page.

Don’t worry about an RSVP:

No special RSVP is required to attend (or not attend) the commencement ceremony and tickets are not required for guests or graduates.

Admire your hard-earned diploma:

Regardless of whether you choose to participate in commencement, diplomas for May graduates will be mailed in June/July 2022.  For questions on your diploma, please contact the Registrar’s Office at (859) 572-5556 or registrar@nku.edu.
