FUEL NKU is our very own student food pantry on campus. Our efforts work to provide students with access to nutritional assistance and other useful items while maintaining a compassionate and confidential environment. This placement provides practicum students with the opportunity to expand their learning in a number of ways. Students will gain experience with case management through managing the food pantry with regular hours. This includes intake procedures with clients and pantry organization. Our practicum students are the main point-of-contact for our volunteers and are responsible for maintaining up-to-date contact information on volunteers, performing training sessions, and supervision of volunteers while they are in the pantry. Students also practice community organization through spreading awareness of our agency in ways such as tabling in the Student Union or organizing donation drives with members of the community. This placement offers a fun and independent, yet structured, opportunity to expand on your learning while making a change in the community.
