The General Education Committee is responsible for assessment of Foundation of Knowledge. The assessment plan was modified in Spring 2011 based on faculty feedback generated as part of evaluating the first assessment cycle (Fall 2010 to Spring 2011). Specifically, the modified assessment plan was designed to improve the extent to which assessment could be used at both the course and program levels to improve student achievement of the Foundation of Knowledge Student Learning Outcomes. As described in the plan, the assessment strategy combines comprehensive formative course level assessments with summative programmatic assessments by outcome area.
The General Education Committee (GEC) is responsible for the periodic review of Foundation of Knowledge. In 2012, the GEC developed a Policy Document to guide the evolution of Foundation of Knowledge. The policy document was approved by Faculty Senate and subsequently adopted as a University Policy Document by the NKU Board of Regents. The committee conducted the first programmatic review of Foundation of Knowledge in the 2013-14 Academic Year.
