The Ecological Stewardship Institute brings together multiple disciplines and diverse communities to promote environmental literacy and stewardship through research, education and outreach. Our vision is a healthy environment for all.
ESI brings together individuals from the Associate Provost’s office of Research and Regional Stewardship, biologists, artists, environmental educators, historians, sociologists, computer scientists and environmental scientists from the NKU campus. Founded on collaboration and innovation, ESI has achieved national recognition in the area of the citizen scientist movement, specifically water quality assessment education. This innovative approach in environmental leadership promotes environmental literacy, stewardship, research and regional engagement. Components of the ESI model include student scholars, environmentally-themed projects, sustainable management as well as collaboration and engagement with the community.
