Health Services will be open for face to face visits on a limited basis by appointment only.
Starting 3/26/2020, the clinic will only be open to see individuals with appointments from 10 am until 2 pm on Monday and Thursday each week until further notice. We ask that if you need to be seen, please call 859-572-5650 to schedule an appointment. Walk-in patients will NOT be accepted.

If you need a medication refill, or you need to talk to a nurse about symptoms, or any other questions that can be done over the phone, please call 859-572-5650 between the hours of 8:15 am and 4 pm.


The Health Services office is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurses (RNs).  

  • The Health Office is open 8:30 a.m- 6:00 p.m. Monday (during fall and spring semesters only) (Mondays during spring break open 8:30-4:30), 
  • 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. 
  • On Thursday the office is open 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. 
  • (CLOSED on NKU holidays and if NKU is closed due to inclement weather). 
  • NKU students, faculty and staff are eligible to use the Health Office services.
  • RN services are available on a walk-in, first come, first served basis for students, staff and faculty.
  • Walk-in patients are NOT accepted after 5:30 p.m. on Monday or after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday- Friday.
  • Nurse Practitioner services are by appointment only.
  • Appointments can be made in person or by phone by calling 859-572-5650.
  • The Health Office is located in the University Center, Suite 440.

  • The Health Office accepts most major health insurance programs or there are low out of pocket fees for those who choose to pay out of pocket or for those without insurance. 
  • The Health Office does NOT accept Medicaid insurance plans.

  • Routine breast and pelvic exams

  • Sexually Transmitted Illness (STI) testing (Including low out of pocket fees if not wanting to use your health insurance!)
  • HIV testing (see below)
  • Vaginal discharge/discomfort
  • Birth Control Methods
  • Sexual Health Education

HIV Testing:

  • Free, anonymous and confidential HIV screening is available to all NKU students/staff and faculty, in partnership with the Northern Kentucky Health Department. 
  • Testing is done with a finger stick, and results are available in about 20 minutes.
  • Free HIV testing is by appointment only.

LGBTQ Services:

  • The staff at the Health Office is sensitive and knowledgeable about LGBTQ students' medical needs.
  • The environment is inclusive and supportive or diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and gender expression.
