In keeping with the strategic plan of Northern Kentucky University to promote and support an inclusive environment, the Office of University Housing offers Flex Housing options to students who demonstrate an interest in and need for such accommodation.
This process seeks to provide a living environment welcoming to all gender identities; one not limited by the traditional gender binary. Flex Housing allows for same-gender, opposite-gender, non-gender or other-gender identities to live together regardless of biological sex in a platonic environment in which they feel safe and supported.
To apply for Flex Housing, please download and complete this Flex Housing packet. This packet contains:
• Submit one FLEX HOUSING GROUP FORM (top page) per group
• Submit one PARTICIPANT FORM AND AGREEMENT per group member
Flex Housing participants must commit to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming living environment free of discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Flex Housing is not guaranteed to any student, and it will be denied in cases where applicants are attempting to secure housing for non-Platonic relationships.
Late applications, cancellations and room change requests may be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. Unless students have specifically received approval for their late application for Flex Housing, they should make plans to participate in the general room selection process #NKUHome. Students who do not qualify for Flex Housing under normal requirements may be considered on a case by case basis. Additional Flex Housing questions can be directed to the Office of University Housing at Norse Commons 101.
