Inclusive Excellence Symposium

Northern Kentucky University’s Office of Inclusive Excellence is pleased to announce Dr. O'Dell M. Owens,  president, chief executive officer and a board member of Interact for Health and InterAct for Change, as honorary chair of this year’s symposium, “Achieving Health Equity,” on April 16-17, 2018.   Guests are invited to join co-conveners Dr. Kathleen Roberts and NKU Regent Andrá R. Ward  of The KhafreWard Corporation along with notable national experts as they engage stakeholders in design thinking focused on generating innovative solutions for achieving equitable healthcare. The public is invited to attend, however, advance registration will be required.

Dr. Owens holds both an MD in obstetrics and gynecology and a master’s of public health from Yale University Medical School. He served at Harvard Medical School as a clinical instructor and completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology there. After returning to Cincinnati in 1982, Owens established an in-vitro fertilization program at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He achieved Cincinnati’s first successful conception and delivery as well as the first pregnancy from a frozen embryo.

In recent years, Dr. Owens has served as the Hamilton County Coroner, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College president and Interim Health Commissioner of the Cincinnati Health Department. Dr. Owens currently serves on the board of the Cincinnati Fire Foundation and is the longest-tenured member and former lead director of the U.S. Bancorp Board of Directors.
