Your NKU username and password are the keys to accessing most of NKU's systems including email, Canvas, myNKU, etc.

Passwords expire every 90 days for your protection. You will receive notifications via email when your password is about to expire.

You can reset your password online at any time. You should add a phone number or personal email address to your account so that if your access does expire, you can have a verification code sent via text or email allowing you to reset your password 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Go to the password reset website, and select "Edit Recovery Data."

The NKU password you select must meet the following criteria:

  • 8-16 characters long
  • Passwords must contain at least three of the following characters: uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, special character (~!@#$%^&*).
  • Your password cannot include your username or any part of your name.
  • Your password can't be reused.

Effective password management is crucial for both the security of the user and NKU. You should NOT share your password with any one; NKU will NEVER ask for your password. If you suspect your password has been compromised, change it immediately and contact the IT Help Desk if necessary.
