Wi-Fi is available in all academic buildings, residence halls and limited outside areas.

Wi-Fi for Students (and Guests)
- NKU_PUBLIC is an open network that doesn't require authentication. It allows you to surf the Internet and connect to NKU web-based pages. Because it is an open network, you may not be able to connect to certain systems that need more security regulations. To fix this, you can either log in to VPN or connect to NKU_Secure.
- NKU_VILLAGE is exclusively for individuals living in the Residential Village. NKU_VILLAGE will prompt you for your NKU username and password when you connect via the web browser. Once authenticated, your computer will have the same access as the wired housing network.
An additional option:
NKU_SECURE is a wireless network that is available to anyone with an NKU account. NKU_SECURE will prompt you for your NKU username and password when you connect via the web browser. NKU_SECURE provides full access to university systems.
Wi-Fi for Faculty and Staff (and Students)
- NKU_ENCRYPTED authenticates as you log into the computer, it will have the same access as the wired network. It is the recommended wireless network for computers provided to faculty and staff by NKU. This network provides full access to internal servers, Outlook (email), shared drives, and other NKU systems will be available. All data transmitted on this wireless network is encrypted between the device and the wireless access point.
- NKU_SECURE is a wireless network that is recommended for faculty and staff to connect their personal computers or devices when on campus. NKU_SECURE will prompt you for your NKU username and password when you connect via the web browser. NKU_SECURE provides full access to internal servers, shared drives and other university systems.
