Leyla Peña is the Coordinator for the office of Latino Programs and Services. In her role she develops and coordinates student programming, designs, implements and support retention initiatives for Latino students, plans and facilitates educational, social and cultural enrichment activities, and oversees the Latino Mentor Program (LAMP). Previously she worked in the Office of Admissions at NKU for 5 years. She became involved with the Greater Cincinnati Latino community while working as News Editor for La Jornada Latina (The Spanish Journal) from 2008-2011.
Leyla earned her BA degree in International Studies and Political Science from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She is currently pursuing a Masters at NKU in Integrative Studies. She is a native of the Dominican Republic and resides in Cincinnati with her husband Maximo and children; David (17) and Astrid (13).
"Service is embedded in everything I do and I feel proud to serve and support Latino students and their families," Peña said. "I highly encourage Latino students to get involved with our office and take advantage of this platform as they pursue their college education."
