  • Big Changes Coming Soon

Big changes are coming to Steely Library in 2015. Our goal is to make Steely's services and resources easier to use. This summer we will unveil a new way to access Steely's collection of books and media and this fall we will launch a new Steely website. Read on for more information.

  • New Way to Find Books and Media at Steely

On June 1, 2015 we will switch to a new system that accesses Steely's collection of book and media. Here are a few things you need to know as you prepare for summer and fall terms:

    • You will still be able to search for books and media owned by NKU but the interface will look a bit different.
    • There may be brief interruptions in service as we switch between systems. While the tentative date for the switch-over is June 1 there may be interruptions just prior and immediately following. We will do our best to minimize any inconvenience.

Faculty preparing course syllabi need to be aware that links to web pages that search our collections (like a link to the "NKUIRE Catalog") or to specific books and media in our collection will change. In order to prevent any last minute problems with broken links, we would like to encourage you not to embed links in Blackboard until after the switch-over is completed.

NKUIRE isn't going away but it will look different. We will provide more specific information as we approach June 1.

  • Steely Web Site Reset

During the 2014 fall term, we held a series of focus groups to hear what you, NKU's students and faculty, wanted from Steely's web site. Since then, a team of librarians and staff have been working to rebuild and rewrite the site. The tentative date for completion is December 2015. Here's what's coming up:

    • We will be looking for participants to help us with usability testing this summer.
    • When the site is re-launched, all the links to specific pages will change. Links will not change before December.

The goal of the website rebuild is to make the site more intuitive and user friendly. We'll keep you up to date so that you can anticipate any upcoming changes.

  • Comprehensive Trademark Seminar

The NKU Chase Law + Informatics Institute and NKU Steely Library Intellectual Property Awareness Center, a designated Patent and Trademark Resource Center by the USPTO, will present a Comprehensive Trademark Seminar on Friday, June 5, 2015 in Highland Heights, Kentucky. The seminar is presented in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. For more information.

  • New JSTOR Collections

Steely has recently expanded your access to JSTOR journals. JSTOR provides full-text access to scholarly journals in the humanities, sciences, and business. The new journal collections include Arts & Sciences XIV, Hebrew Journals, Jewish Studies, and Global Plants.
