    New Study Rooms Available

If you need some extra space to prepare for finals, or if you have a last-minute group project to work on, don’t forget that Steely has made two new Study Rooms available for reservation on the third floor.

In addition to rooms 130, 131, and 133 on the first floor, rooms 306 and 308 are now live and available on our Group Study Room booking site. And as always, there is a study room with first-come-first-serve availability near the third floor Public Services Desk, with no reservation required.

True or False: The Information Literacy Edition

    • Information literacy instruction is not necessary for students in advanced courses
    • Information literacy is just learning how to search a database
    • Information literacy instruction is only available for face-to-face courses
    • Information literacy instruction is only available during the spring and fall semesters

Which of the above statements are true? None!

At Steely Library, our Information Literacy program is dedicated to helping students develop the skills, habits, and conceptual understandings that are needed to navigate the ever-changing information landscape. We provide both foundational and advanced instruction. In our instruction sessions for upper-level courses, we focus specifically on the concepts and resources most relevant to students in that course. Instruction and resources are available for both face-to-face and online courses throughout the year, including during the summer sessions.

    Search Engine Service Changes

Effective May 15th 2017, the Steely Library website’s search tabs for BOTH Books and Media will be migrating from the current OCLC WorldCat search engine to EBSCO Discovery Service. During this migration, users who have used EBSCOHost to save research information may experience a service disruption accessing prior saved research.

After May 15th, if you are unable to access prior saved research in EBSCO, please contact Steely Library’s Systems Librarian Mike Wells at for direct assistance.
