    Thanksgiving Break Hours at Steely

    Steely will have reduced hours for Thanksgiving Break on Tuesday, November 20, and will be closed November 21-24. We will resume normal hours on Sunday, November 25.

    • Tuesday (11/20): 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
    • Wednesday (11/21): CLOSED
    • Thursday (11/22): CLOSED
    • Friday (11/23): CLOSED
    • Saturday (11/24): CLOSED
    • Sunday (11/25): 12:30 PM – 1:00 AM

    Extended Hours (Including 24-Hour Access) for Finals Week

    Steely will have extended hours for finals week beginning Friday, December 7, which will include a period of 24-hour access between Sunday (12/9) and the following Friday (12/14).

    • Friday (12/7): 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM
    • Saturday (12/8): 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
    • Sunday (12/9): Open 9:00 AM
    • Monday (12/10) – Thursday (12/13): Open 24 Hours
    • Friday (12/14): Close 5:30 PM

    Earn Gen Ed Credit: Register for Spring Sections of LIN 175

    Spring registration is coming up, so consider earning 'Individual and Society' general education credits while learning to access, analyze, and use information with LIN 175 – Library Informatics.

    This foundational course introduces students to the cross-disciplinary skills needed to assess information needs, and to access and evaluate information sources. These skills are applicable to all of your other studies, giving you the skills and knowledge to be successful in any program… this class can help you excel in all of your other classes!

    It will be available Spring I (7 weeks), Spring II (7 weeks), 16 weeks online, and 16 weeks on campus (TR 10:50-12:05).

    Faculty Reserves Expiring at End of Semester; Renewal Available

    This is a reminder that if you have placed items on reserve for only the Fall semester, they will be expiring after Finals Week.

    If you would like to renew your reserve items and continue their availability through the Spring semester, please fill out our online form.

    Representatives from Top Hat to Host Workshops at NKU

    Representatives from Top Hat, NKU's student response platform, will host workshops for instructors who are interested in learning more about Top Hat, formative assessment, and active learning.

    Do you already use Top Hat? Have you never heard about Top Hat? All instructors are welcome to attend these workshops and join us for lunch.

    You can attend one or all of the sessions:

    November 28th, Steely Library 221

    • 12:00 PM – 12:15 PM: Food & registration
    • 12:15 PM – 1:15 PM: Top Hat Workshop
    • 1:15 PM – 1:45 PM: Questions & Discussion

    QEP Faculty Workshop - Integrating Information Literacy into Online Courses

    • When: Thursday, November 29th, 1:40 PM – 3:00 PM
    • Where: Steely 102

    Join Mary Chesnut, Professor of Library Education, and learn about 20 different information literacy assignments that will adapt well to the asynchronous online environment and would be applicable to a variety of disciplines.

    Participants will leave the session with practical ideas that they can modify for their own online courses.

    The workshop will be available online via Kaltura after the presentation.
