Since late 2007 Lois has managed the Special Collections and University Archives department which includes university records, regional history collections, rare books, a non-circulating book collection to supplement the archival records, and the university records and information management program.
Lois has been a practicing archivist for over twenty years with experience in local historical society, local town government, and college and university records. She speaks on archival topics at archival, library and history conferences, is active professionally and is a successful grant writer.
Her research interests include archival arrangement and description, and photographs.
Lois holds an M.A. in History/Archival Methods from U Mass Boston, an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, is a Certified Archivist and has earned the Digital Archives Specialist designation from the Society of American Archivists. She is the author of two books - Archival Arrangement and Description: Analog to Digital and the award winning Archives for the Lay Person: a Guide to Managing Cultural Collections.
