During a January 1981 game against Oakland City College, Northern Kentucky University’s basketball team took home a well-deserved yet unusual win.
A miraculous 70-55 score was something to celebrate, but not for the reason most might think. Only six of the team’s 14 team members made it onto the court during the entire game.
The other eight players, who were suspended for two games for participating in unsanctioned summer leagues, watched the game from the bench in their civilian clothes.
