University Police Self-Defense Training and R.A.D Training

What if someone you knew tried to get you to do something you don't want to do? Would you know what to do? Did you know that more than 70 percent of women who reported a rape knew their attacker? 

The Northern Kentucky University Police Department offers free self-defense training course for students, faculty, and staff.

Course Options

Basic Physical Defense - 3 hour course

The goal of this training is to provide a person options to combat an attack with realistic self-defense techniques taught by certified Northern Kentucky University Police Department personnel. This course also provides educational information on personal safety while navigating NKU's campus. Class sizes can range from 4-12 individuals. 

 

 

Rape Aggression Defense - R.A.D. - 12 hours course

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Our courses are taught by certified R.A.D. instructors and provide you with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth. 

The 12 hour course is presented in 4 sessions which covers a variety of self defense education and tactics specific for women.
