As we welcome the Fall season to our beautiful campus, I write to express my continued appreciation for the commitment of our staff and faculty to the success of our students and to the vitality of our community. In that spirit, I am pleased to announce the University schedule for the upcoming holidays.
In anticipation of Thanksgiving, the University will be closed on Wednesday, November 26, through Sunday, November 30. I hope that one extra day will enable you to share a little bit more time with your family and friends.
During the winter break, I have decided to extend the break by four days and to close campus beginning on Saturday, December 20, 2014, through Sunday, January 4, 2014. The extra four days are a tangible expression of my appreciation for your hard work and dedication. And, by closing the campus for two weeks, we anticipate that we will save approximately $200,000 in energy and other facility-related expenses.
Any events that have already been scheduled during these periods for The Bank of Kentucky Center, the Student Union, and Fine Arts will proceed as planned. Please contact Facilities Management to ensure that the venues are heated as needed.
I believe that something special is happening at our University. One of the special attributes of our University is the sustained commitment of our faculty and staff, even during challenging times. I am grateful for your service and your sacrifices. Please enjoy this extra time with the special people in your personal lives.
