Senior Advisor to the President for Inclusive Excellence

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to inform you that I have hired Dr. Kathleen Roberts as our new Senior Advisor to the President for Inclusive Excellence.  Dr. Roberts will report directly to me and will serve as a member of the senior leadership team.

Dr. Roberts is presently a consultant to Saint Mary’s College of California on Title IX policies and issues.  Previously she served as the Chief Diversity Officer at Samuel Merritt University.  She also served as the Director of EEO & Diversity at Idaho State University and the Executive Director of Diversity & Equity at the University of Southern Maine.

Dr. Roberts earned her B.S. in dance and political science, M.A. in expressive arts therapy, J.D. at the University of Maine School of Law, and Ph.D. in leadership and change.

I am grateful to members of the search committee for the outstanding leadership they provided for this search.  Dr. Miriam Kannan and Mr. Dannie Moore served as co-chairs.  The other committee members were

  • Ben Anderson, Director of Disability Programs and Services
  • Sharlene Boltz, Professor of Law
  • John Gaffin, Sergeant, NKU Police Department
  • Daniel Ginn, Student
  • Crystal Kendrick, Alumna, President of The Voice of Your Customer
  • James Koschoreck, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership
  • Thomas McGovern, Chair, Visual Arts

  • Vickie Natale, Assistant Vice President for Planning and Institutional Research (non-voting, ex-officio

Kathleen will start her new duties in August.  I am very pleased that Dr. Roberts will be joining our University community.

As I have said before, one person alone does not “do” diversity and inclusion.  Rather, an inclusive campus culture is everyone’s responsibility, including mine.  I am pleased that Dr. Roberts will be assisting us and providing leadership, coordination, and collaboration in this important dimension of the University.

Sincerely,

Geoff
