Series I, Storyboards, contains large tri-fold boards featuring photographs and narrative. The narrative, written by Garrett, explains images, provides background information on the subjects of the images, and comments on the general state of the geographical locations. Many of the photographs come from wagon and horseback caravan trips that Garrett took through Appalachian and rural central Kentucky.
Series II, Oral History Interviews, contains recordings and transcripts. Transcripts do not exist for every interview. They are arranged alphabetically by last name of interviewee.
