Northern Kentucky University is the only university in the tri-state area to have a dedicated leadership institute.

Founded in 2001, the Northern Kentucky Leadership Institute (NKLI) houses three organizations: Freshmen Service Leadership Committee, Leadership Mentors and Norse Leadership Society. NKLI seeks to provide Northern Kentucky University and the campus community with opportunites for personal and professional development through workshops, retreats, and service opportunities.

NKLI is housed in the Northern Kentucky University James and Rachel Votruba Student Union in room 329.

  • Freshmen Service Leadership Committee

    The Norse Leadership Society (NLS) hosts a multitude of excellent leadership programs which allow participants to learn valuable lessons in leadership, community building, service learning, and making a difference in students' academic experience. Find more information on this page.

  • Leadership Mentors

    Leadership Mentors will educate members and organization leaders on different aspects of being a student organization as well as leadership opportunities and conferences and resources organizations can use at NKU. Find more information on this page.

  • Leadership University

    Leadership University (LU) is a year long continuous seminar program providing leadership based programming to the campus community. LU sessions are offered by members of NKLI as well as different programs across campus. Students who complete the program will receive a Leadership University Diploma and cords to wear at NKU’s Commencement. Find more information about this program on this page.
