The Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services was founded in 2013. As part of the Division of Student Affairs, we are committed to offering programs and services to increase visibility, awareness, and advocacy for the LGBTQA+ students, staff, faculty, and alumni of Northern Kentucky University.

We are located within the Center for Student Inclusiveness in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union in suite 309.

Bonnie Meyer

Bonnie Meyer, MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching)

Director, Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services at Northern Kentucky University.

Bonnie is the founding director of the Office of LGBTQ Programs and Services at NKU. In addition to her work at NKU, Bonnie is engaged in a number of efforts around equity and community development. She is the president of NKY Fairness, which organizes the annual NKY PrideFest and advocates for local fairness ordinances across Northern Kentucky.

Bonnie is an educator by trade and pairs that with her passion for LGBTQ inclusion and equity. She is adjunct faculty in the Women and Gender Studies Program and the Teacher Education Departments at NKU, where she developed an LGBTQ focused study abroad program in Europe. 

Bonnie holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrated English Language Arts Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from Miami University. She will complete her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Culture, and Curriculum at Miami University in May 2020.  Her dissertation, Queering Inclusive Excellence: A Currere Exploration of Self, Curriculum, and Creating Change as a Founding LGBTQ Office Director, is a curriculum study of the LGBTQ Programs and Services office at NKU. 

Bonnie lives in Covington with her wife (Katie), daughter (Alyssa), son (Kyle), and their two dogs. In her free time she enjoys working in the yard, yoga, running, and spending time with family and friends.
