NKU Student Disciplinary Process Flowchart (text version)

An incident report or complaint is received:

Action taken: 

  1. Interim measures taken (if necessary) and duty to warn assessed or 
  2. Investigation takes place or 
  3. Case is dismissed and information is kept on file

If an investigation takes place and
If the decision is to charge the student or student organization then there is an:

  1. Administrative hearing (one on one with hearing officer) or
  2. Student conduct board hearing (hearing panel of faculty, staff and student)

Else if the decision is NOT to charge student or student organization then the case is dismissed and information is kept on file.

Once there is a decision to charge and the hearing has been conducted the:

  1. Student or student organization is found NOT responsible for charges or
  2. Student or student organization is found responsible for charges

In either case the student or student organization can appeal the decision with these possible outcomes:

  1. Decision upheld
  2. Decision modified
  3. Decision overturned
