The ETS® Major Field Tests (MFT) are comprehensive undergraduate and MBA outcomes assessments designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding obtained by students in a major field of study. The Major Field Tests go beyond the measurement of factual knowledge by helping evaluate students' ability to analyze and solve problems, understand relationships and interpret material from their major field of study.

NKU is currently piloting the Biology and Mathematics Major Field Test. Both exams take 2 hours to complete. See below for specific information about either the Biology of Mathematics Major Field Test.


Registration

Appointments can be made by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. Please select either Biology or Mathematics and fill in the other information to confirm your date. There is no fee for these tests.


Biology MFT

The ETS® Major Field Test for Biology consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, a number of which are grouped in sets and based on descriptions of laboratory and field situations, diagrams or experimental results. Some of the questions within each of the major areas are designed to test analytical skills. This exam takes 2 hours.

Students must be currently registered in BIO 491 at NKU to take the Biology MFT.

Mathematics (MFT)

The ETS® Major Field Test for Mathematics consists of 50 questions, some of which may be grouped in sets and based on such materials as diagrams and graphs. The questions are drawn from the courses of study most commonly offered as part of an undergraduate mathematics curriculum. This exam takes 2 hours.

Students must be currently registered in MAT 489 at NKU to take the Mathematics MFT.
