Access NKU software and network drives from anywhere

NKU offers a convenient solution for accessing NKU software and drives wherever you are from any device - a virtual desktop.

Both faculty, staff and students can use the virtual desktops.

Feature Highlights:

  • Virtual desktops for faculty/staff and students
  • Window 10, 8, and 7 desktops
  • Smartphone and tablet apps
  • Use Windows software on a Mac

How it works:

  1. If you are off campus, you must connect to VPN before you can use NKU Virtual Desktop. If you are on campus, you can skip this step.
  2. Visit view.nku.edu. From here you have two options.
    1. Choose HTML access to immediatetly launch your desktop in a browser window.
    2. Or choose to install the View Client software on your compter. View instructions for this option here. Once installed, you launch VMWare just like you would any software program. This software can also be downloaded on a tablet via your app store (free).

Both options will require you to login with your NKU username and password. After logging in, a window will open that contains all the software and access to your network drives.

NOTE: you are accessing an NKU virtual desktop, not your personal workstation (i.e. save files to the J: and K: drives but never to the C: drive or desktop).
