The Next Generation STEM Classroom is a truly unique professional development program for primary through middle grades teachers. It takes place during the school year, in actual classrooms, with that classroom’s usual students. Two segments comprise each session: the Fishbowl and the RECAP. First, the Outreach Director/Specialist models best practices by teaching a STEM lesson to a class of students with teachers from multiple grade levels observing around the room; this is called the “Fishbowl”.
After the class is over, the teachers and CINSAM staff go to another room for the second segment, the “RECAP”, to break down the lesson for best practices in STEM teaching and to look for ways to apply it to their own teaching. “RECAP” stands for “Reflection and Exploration of Content, Alignment, and Pedagogy”.
When you attend the STEM Conference, you will be presented with the latest STEM Models, participate in workshops, walk away with lesson plans, and learn all about the STEM Resources available to you in your area.
This year, Northern Kentucky University has teamed up with the University of Cincinnati to create a two day event! The conference will be held on September 20th, 2018.
