This technology project will move the myNKU/SAP application to an SAP HANA (High-performance ANalytic Appliance) database. Moving to this modern database will allow us to process more data in a shorter amount of time. This is primarily a technology project, although we will have some functional areas involved for testing. All changes will occur in the backend. Our users can expect no changes to the functionality in myNKU.
Friday, May 24 through Friday, May 31, 2024 NKU IT will migrate the databases that run the MyNKU system.
MyNKU will be completely unavailable from Friday, May 24 at 3:00 pm until Tuesday, May 28 at 6:00 am.
Not all services are expected to return to normal operations by Tuesday 5/28, but functionality will be added daily, with a full return to normal operations expected by Friday 5/31. You can track the status of the migration here, below.
Canvas,Email, MS Teams, Zoom, OneDrive, and J: and K: drives will continue to operate while this system is down. However, other processes including but not limited to course registration, drop/add, unofficial transcripts, tuition payments, program declaration/changes, and personal information changes will not be available while the migration occurs.

The first phase will move the sandbox environment (ERS) to the HANA database. This is a test environment used by IT to test new functionality, patches, etc.
The anticipated downtime dates for migration are January 22nd - January 26th.
The second phase will move the development environment (BWD and ERD) to the HANA database. This is a test environment used by IT to test new functionality, patches, etc.
The anticipated downtime dates for migration are February 29th - March 6th.
The third phase will move the QA environment (ERQ) to the HANA database. This is a test environment used by IT to test new functionality, patches, etc.
The anticipated downtime dates for migration are April 2nd - April 8th.
The fourth phase will move the production environment (ERP and BWP) to the HANA database. This is the live myNKU environment used by NKU.
The anticipated downtime dates for migration are May 24th - May 31st; however all migration tasks were completed by Tuesday 5/28 at 9am.
All activities in this phase are progressing as expected.
ERP (Finance, HR, and Student Information) and BWP (Reporting) were taken offline at 3:00pm ET on Friday 5/24/24. Jobs were checked before bringing the systems offline to ensure data integrity is maintained.
5/24/24, 8:00pm ET: No significant issues to report. Migration tasks are progressing as expected. Project is on track with the original schedule.
5/25/24, 8:00pm ET: Migration tasks are progressing as expected. No significant issues to report. Project is on track with the original schedule.
5/26/24, 12:00pm ET: Migration tasks are progressing as expected. No significant issues to report. Project is on track with the original schedule.
5/28/24, 9:00am ET: All migration tasks have completed successfully and early. The campus may use myNKU in its normal capacity starting at this time.
The fifth phase will provide support for all myNKU users after the migration to the HANA database.
