Unlike the junk mail filter, the “clutter” filter/folder attempts to observe your behavior towards messages and automatically classify them based on your previous action (or inaction). For instance, if you receive many emails from a particular newsletter and you either ignore them or immediately move them to the trash, clutter takes notice of this over time and automatically begins moving these items to the clutter folder. However, clutter does make mistakes occasionally so it’s never a bad idea to review the clutter folder occasionally for “false positives,” especially if an expected email is overdue. For security precautions, we must register your device on our network as a "safe" device. Go into the settings of your device and find its MAC address. If you don't know how to do this, a quick Google search will tell you; the number will look similar in format to this example: 00-f8-A2-34-54-Af-12. When you find your MAC address, bring it to the Norse Tech Bar (UC) or call our IT Help Desk and ask to register your device on the network. Learn more about which devices can be used on our network.
Yes. By default, all wired connections in the dorms are turned off because most users prefer wireless. But if you would like the port activated at no charge, locate the port in your room and write down the number. Contact the IT Help Desk with that number, your username, the building you live in, your room number, etc. and we will activate the port.
You can call in to check your voicemail messages or update your greeting from anywhere in the world. Dial (859) 572-5800. When the recording answers, press "*". Follow the prompts to enter your extension and hit "#". Enter PIN. Review voicemails as you would from your office phone.
