Internship Showcase

Student and faculty advisor names, project title, and internship or co-op description will be published as submitted on the internship website. Careful editing is required. We strongly suggest that applicants contact the prospective primary faculty advisor for assistance with the PowerPoint slide. We also suggest that applicants run the internship or co-op description and title through a spell-check and language program to ensure correct spelling and grammar. All editing must occur before the project is approved for publication.

Internship descriptions are limited to 100 words.

Key aspects of the description - max 100 words:

• Title: What is your job title? If it is too generic, qualify it by saying what kind of internship you completed or will complete (Digital Media Intern rather than Intern).
  
• Company Name: What is the name of the company where you completed or will complete your internship?
  
• Accomplishments: What were 2 or 3 of your overall accomplishments?
  
• Collaboration: Did you collaborate with other departments or with your own team? If you worked on your own (as in a hybrid or remote situation) say that.
  
• Learning: What did you learn?

Internship and co-op projects contain: Accomplishments, collaborations, teamwork or individual contributions, and learning. 

Characteristics of Excellent Experiential Education:

• Students do the work.
• Leaning goals or objectives are set, changed if necessary, added to or subtracted from, and re-evaluated by the student, the faculty advisor, and the supervisor.

Types of Presentations

Poster - A poster is worth a thousand words!
During a two-hour session students discuss their internship experience with attendees. The 3' x 4' poster are set up on standing boards (push pins provided) around the room. There are two PowerPoint slide frames to choose from:

Digital Media Presentation
Please email the University Internship Manager if you wish to use a method of presentation involving any digital media and are not already enrolled in the Communication Scaffold Internship course. 

What is It?

• Reverse career-fair format whereby students create a poster demonstrating their accomplishments and skills learned during their internship and are given an opportunity to present to hiring professionals from area companies and organizations.

Goals?

• Increase company presence on-campus
• Give students an opportunity to present to hiring professionals

Employers?

• Employer invites sent out end of February
• Number of invites depends on number of participating students and majors
