Northern's main campus is located along US 27, seven miles southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio. Northern's location places it in the largest metropolitan area of all the state universities in Kentucky. Groundbreaking for the Highland Heights campus was March 31, 1971. Open house was held October 29, 1972. Northern's move to the Highland Heights campus was completed basically on schedule in late July, 1972.
