Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a cultural exchange program that provides grants to enable recent graduate students the opportunity to spend an academic year teaching or carrying out research, independent study, creative projects, or graduate study worldwide.

Boren Fellowships

The Boren Fellowships fund research and language study proposals by U.S. graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Students can choose Regional Flagship Language Intiatives, which offer Boren Fellows carefully-selected, credit-bearing language courses during the summer (domestic) and fall (overseas), with the option to continue overseas study into the spring. CRITICAL LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program partners with universities and nonprofits around the globe to provide cohorts of U.S. students an opportunity to study the language and culture in a country/location where the target language is commonly spoken. The CLS Program, through its CLS Spark initiative, provides beginner-level virtual instruction for Arabic, Chinese, and Russian for competitively selected U.S. undergraduate students whose home campuses do not offer these languages. CLS scholars are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship and apply their critical language skills in their future careers. 

 

Eligibilty Requirements: Graduate Students; Some programs may require prior study in the target language

THE TOSHIZO WATANABE STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

An endowment by Toshizo Watanabe to the U.S.-Japan Council provides financial assistance to Japanese and American undergraduate and graduate students pursuing study abroad programs or international study in either the United States or Japan. The scholarship will cover the cost of attendance to the institiution or study abroad program of the applicant's choice and grants awards to recipients in amounts determined by financial need and other qualifications. Preference will be given to students who meet the criteria outlined on the website, but these qualifications are not required. Contact the Office of Study Abroad for more information.Eligibility
