Purpose
To provide funding for student led research/creative projects during the academic year. These projects are limited in scope and last roughly 1 semester. Typically these will be for students starting or early in their research/creative experiences.
Amount
Stipends of up to $1000 each are available to each student to be paid in two equal installments during the course of the project. The first installment will be paid after midterm reports and the second after the final report is submitted.
Eligibility
Any student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Northern Kentucky University. Project must be completed prior to graduation.
- Projects should be independent research/creative works conducted outside of their course work.
- Preference will be given to those students with less research/creative experience or who have not previously received funding.
Process
- One student per application - application must be written and submitted by the student.
- Students will submit a description of the project: including goals, procedures, timeline including specific dates, and significance of the research/creative project (maximum 3 pages double-spaced Times New Roman 12pt font).

Fall deadline: August 31, 2022
- Midterm Reports Due: October 15th
- Final Report due: December 15th
- All reports are submitted through the Student Opportunity Center, additional details included in the award letters.
Spring deadline: November 1, 2022
- Midterm Reports Due: February 28th
- Final Reports Due: May 5th
