Center for Environmental Restoration
The Center for Environmental Restoration (CER) operates the Northern Kentucky Stream & Wetland Restoration Program, the "In-lieu Fee Mitigation Program" serving nine northern Kentucky counties. The CER employs fees paid by public and private entities that have impacted aquatic ecosystems to implement stream and wetland restoration and preservation projects in the region.
The purpose of the program is to replace aquatic ecosystem functions and services lost to development ("no net loss"), such as aquatic and wildlife habitat, water quality protection, floodwater and energy dissipation, natural aesthetics and recreational opportunities To date, our restoration and preservation projects encompass 3,300 acres under permanent conservation protection, 61 miles of streams and 15 acres of wetlands.
