RDG 110: Critical Reading
As consumers, as workers, as voters, as present or future parents, and as members of communities, our ability to read and think critically is essential to full and responsible participation in our many and varied roles. RDG 110 Critical Reading provides opportunities to develop your critical reading and thinking skills in a collaborative environment. Frequent writings throughout the term will encourage reflection and deeper response to the readings. RDG 110 is a 3-credit class that counts in your GPA and toward graduation.
ENGD 094: Integrated Reading & Writing Workshop
The purpose of ENGD 094 is to help students develop their academic literacy skills, strategies, and habits of mind. This course will help students improve the quality and fluency of their writing, prepare them for college-level writing and reading, and give them extensive practice in critical reading and the writing process. This is a 3-credit course with a 1-credit lab (ENGD 080), not applicable towards graduation, for students who are below college level in reading or English. Because reading and writing are integrated in this course, students will improve in both dimensions of academic literacy. ENGD 094 is a pre-requisite for ENG 101.
ENGD 080: Writing Lab
Students attend weekly, small-group sessions. The instructor leads discussions and activities to help students improve their reading, their writing, and their assignments for ENGD 094 Integrated Reading & Writing Workshop.
