Dear Colleagues:

As a university, our vision is to continually excel in the development and wellbeing of our people. One way in which we can do so this year is by forging new and existing relationships with key community partners. Among many developing partnerships is that of our continued support of the American Heart Association and the Heart Mini-Marathon on March 10, 2019. The event offers something for everyone, being inclusive of all ages and athletic backgrounds.

Each year NKU has participated in this event through engaging teams, and I hope to see NKU show up in a big way again this year. Focusing on physical activity and overall wellbeing will help create longer, healthier lives for all NKU Norse. Furthermore, engagement in such initiatives places us among the healthiest universities in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area.

My ask is simple; please elect a representative from your department to create a team of 10-15 fellow employees, friends and family to participate in the Heart Mini-Marathon & Walk by accessing our NKU Heart Mini webpage.

Our aim is to have team captains registered online by December 31st to ensure our new year is met with a culture of collective action toward heart health.  For more information on this effort please contact Kim Baker or contact our AHA representative, Ryan Sowers to assist in setting up your team.

Whether you are a runner, walker or wish to participate as a virtual supporter, I ask you to join me and the NKU campus community in leading the way toward optimal heart-health.

With heart,
Ashish
