Dear Colleagues:

Effective the 2019-2020 academic year, NKU is launching a new financial aid strategy to enhance and strengthen access, affordability and completion across a broader market.

NKU’s new EDGE program (Educational Discount to Graduate & Excel) will be available to new full-time first year students from 12 US States and 12 countries.

Eligible students from these states and countries will only pay $10,000 in tuition ($5,000 for fall and $5,000 for spring, excluding fees). Students who are eligible for the EDGE program may still receive additional institutional awards (e.g., Athletics, College, Diversity, Presidential Merit, mandated waivers and others).  Prospective students and families should be forwarded to the Office of Financial Assistance for further eligibility details.

New transfer students from specific counties will continue to receive the $5,200 Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) award, with one exception. If an out-of-state student attended any college within the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS), earned a 2.0 GPA and comes directly to NKU in a full-time capacity, will be eligible for in-state tuition. The current Metro and TIP students will not be impacted by this new program.

NKU offers an incredible educational experience on one of the safest campuses in the country, in close proximity to a vibrant metropolitan area. Our commitment to recruiting and nurturing talent from across the region must be complimented with broader access and affordability, especially since our enrollment has declined over the past few years. As we continue to focus on retention and completion, I hope that this strategy will ensure NKU becomes an attractive value proposition beyond our immediate region.

It’s time for more students from across the country and around the world to put NKU on their short list!

Thank you for all that you do to support our students and NKU.

Sincerely yours,
Ashish
