Dear Colleagues,

Summer has arrived on our beautiful campus and I am grateful for the continued commitment of our staff and faculty  to the success of our students and to the vitality of our community. This year the Independence Day holiday falls on Thursday, July 4. As we celebrate America’s birthday and the ideals and values that we stand for as a nation, I thought it would be fitting to allow ourselves the opportunity to reflect on those ideals and enjoy an extended weekend with family and friends. Therefore I am pleased to announce that I have decided to close the university on Friday, July 5.

Any special events that have already been scheduled for July 5 will proceed as planned.  Please consult your supervisor if you’re uncertain how this impacts you.

I hope this extra day allows you to spend more time with the special people in your lives.
