Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce additional time off during the upcoming holiday season to allow you to enjoy some much-deserved time with your family and friends. While most of us will be able to take advantage of this time, there are many employees who must continue essential university operations during the holidays. I want to acknowledge and express my gratitude to those employees. Your dedication to our university and our students does not go unnoticed.

As an extension to the Thanksgiving holiday, the university will now be closed on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in addition to Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. As for the Winter Holiday Break, the university will now be closed from Monday, December 23, 2019 through Friday, January 3, 2020, with all offices opening on Monday, January 6, 2020

In exchange for this time, I would once again ask that you join me by volunteering for the 2nd Annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 20, 2020.  As you know, this is Martin Luther King Jr. Day – a federal holiday. In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off." It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. Last year this event was a huge success as we had over 600 students, faculty, staff, alumni and family members volunteer for this special day of community service throughout our region. I am truly inspired by NKU’s long history of service and engagement and the lasting impact we continue to make within our community. More details on the MLK Day of Service will be forthcoming once we get closer to the date.

Thank you for all that you do for our university, our students and our region.

Sincerely yours,
Ashish
