Dear Colleagues:
As we look ahead to the implementation phase of the strategic framework, it has become clear that we will require a Cabinet-level senior leader tasked with campus-wide oversight and execution of the strategic plan for our university.
After careful thought and deliberation, the decision has been made to create the position of Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer (VP & CSO). Reporting directly to me, this individual will help align campus-wide efforts of strategy implementation and serve as Executive Secretary to the Board of Regents. The VP & CSO will be responsible for our strategic planning process which will be constantly evolving as regional needs change. In this new paradigm, we will be required to constantly innovate, adapt, and execute in an iterative process as we stay responsive to the needs of the region and beyond. We will begin a national search to fill this position as soon as possible.
In order to create the VP & CSO position, we have made the decision to redesign the Executive Assistant position within the Office of the President. Ben Jager will continue in his current role as executive assistant and secretary to the board until March 31, 2019. He will then work on special projects through June 30, 2019.
