Dear Colleagues:

We continue to work diligently to evaluate all options related to House Bill 1 (HB1). I am providing an update on where we are in our process regarding pension reform.

Currently, we are working with Eastern Kentucky University and Western Kentucky University on a request for proposal (RFP) for services that will assist the universities to analyze the options in HB1.

The RFP services include:

  • Conduct an actuarial analysis/ review of KERS’ actuarial analysis and assumptions;
  • Advise on the financial and related effects of the act by analyzing the impacts that employees and the universities may face;
  • And financial advisory services to determine the financial impact of each of the options provided in HB1.

The RFP is expected to go out soon and selection of a firm(s) will follow shortly.

We are also in the process of scheduling October Pension Talk Sessions, and we  will share the dates and locations for these important events soon. The questions you asked during the August Talk Session have been recorded and answers are posted on the Pension Central website.

I will continue to share updates as there are developments or new information available. In the meantime, please send any questions to nkupension@nku.edu.

Thank you for all you do for our university, our students and our region.

Sincerely,
Ashish
