Dear Colleagues and Students:

I am delighted to share with you that yesterday afternoon, the Board of Regents unanimously approved Success by Design, NKU’s three-year strategic framework. For your reference, attached is a one-page overview of the framework.  This may also be found at

The Core Team, the Resource Team and I would like to thank you for your engagement and support of this important initiative. Your feedback has been crucial since the beginning of this process.  The development of this framework—and in an expedited timeframe—would not have been possible without your active participation. This is a testament to your commitment to our students, the university and the region we serve.

Let us take this time to celebrate this important accomplishment.  On Thursday, April 18, I invite you to join us at 10:30 a.m. for a reception in Alumni Hall outside the Student Union Ballroom.  Immediately following the reception will be the university’s Spring Forum from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The Success by Design framework will be a living document and serve as a roadmap to guide NKU toward its next 50 years in increasing access, achieving higher levels of completion, and advancing opportunities for career and community engagement for all learners.  This framework will require change and soon we begin identifying major initiatives and forming implementation teams to develop cross-divisional plans that will guide the work of our colleges, departments and offices in the execution of the three-year plan.

Together, we will achieve great things through collaboration, creativity and persistence—singularly focused on advancing student success aligned with the needs of our region. NKU will be student-ready and regionally engaged, empowering diverse learners for economic and social mobility. I look forward to continuing this important work with you.
