Dear Colleagues:

The U.S. Department of Education released new regulations last week to guide the application of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX  protects individuals from sex-based discrimination in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

NKU is currently reviewing these new regulations and compliance expectations, which will compel substantial changes to policy, process and procedures. We will communicate these changes after Board of Regents approval. We will also keep the campus community informed as we navigate implementation.

The new regulations will go into effect August 14, 2020.

NKU remains committed to our guiding principles in this process:

Sexual misconduct and all forms of sex-based discrimination are violations not just of NKU policy, but of our institutional values. The new Title IX regulations in no way change the university’s commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive educational and work environment. All parties deserve to have their voices heard through a fair and equitable process.NKU prioritizes the health and well-being of our entire community, and we will continue to provide supportive measures and other resources for all who need them.

For more information about reporting sexual misconduct or resources available through NKU, please visit titleix.nku.edu.

Sincerely,
Ashish
