Dear Campus Community:

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Eddie J. Howard, Jr. as our new Vice President for Student Affairs. Eddie comes to NKU from Youngstown State University and will join us on January 1, 2021.

Eddie has deep experience in higher education and student affairs, and I believe he will be an exceptional leader of our Student Affairs Division. In conducting the national search for this position, we reimagined the Student Affairs leadership position to provide a fully integrated student experience across the university with a particular focus on Academic Affairs. As Vice President for Student Affairs, Eddie will lead NKU's student conduct and engagement, student inclusiveness and campus safety.

Over the last five years at Youngstown State University, Eddie has focused on implementing comprehensive service programs and activities while enhancing
students' academic success opportunities. Before his tenure at Youngstown State, he served many different student-focused positions at Augusta Technical College, Augusta University, Georgia College & State University and the University of Louisville. Eddie received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Youngstown State University, a Master of Education in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Valdosta State University.

I also want to share deep gratitude to Interim Chief Student Affairs Officer Arnie Slaughter. He has been leading the student affairs division over the last year and guided our students through the global pandemic. Arnie will continue to contribute to our students' success, returning to his Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Dean of Students role within the division.

Sincerely,
Ashish Vaidya
