What does the Dual-Credit Instructor Credentialing Scholarship cover?

The Dual-Credit Instructor Credentialing Scholarship will cover the cost of the recommended graduate courses up to the general graduate resident rate ($550/credit hr). If an applicant lives outside of Kentucky, they may be responsible for any additional tuition costs. Recipients will be responsible for purchasing their textbooks, parking pass, and paying any NKU or course fees.

Can I use the scholarship to get 18 graduate hours in a content area other than communication, English, or history?

No. At this time the scholarship only covers communication, English, and history. These are the only areas where we have a clearly defined path through the Teacher Education department that leads to being credentialed to teach dual-credit.

I am interested in a couple of the content areas. Can I select more than one content area on my application?

No. Due to a limited pool of scholarship money, we can only consider applicants who identify one content area for additional graduate coursework on their application. We would recommend selecting the content area where you have the most experience.

If I'm chosen as a scholarship recipient, am I guaranteed admission?

No. Chosen recipients must apply for admission to the university and their chosen program and meet all admission criteria. All awards are pending, subject to successful admission.

If I am part of the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP) can I apply for the DCIC Scholarship?

Please be advised if you are eligible to use the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP) waiver you will only be able to use either the KTIP Waiver or the Dual-Credit Instructor Credentialing Scholarship to cover the cost of your courses. The KTIP Waiver and the Dual-Credit Instructor Credentialing Scholarship only cover tuition. The student is responsible for purchasing text books and paying any NKU and/or course fees.

Will the scholarship cover online accelerated courses?

No. NKU funds can not be used toward online accelerated courses.
